New Benchmark for Photovoltaic Industry: BloombergNEF Updates Tier 1 Solar Panel Manufacturers Entry Criteria

Admin

Edited in September 2024— BloombergNEF (BNEF) has recently announced significant updates to the entry criteria for its Tier 1 Solar Panel Manufacturer List. The new standards emphasize large-scale project supply capabilities, financing diversity, information transparency, and high-quality production.

The updated criteria require companies to supply at least 5MW of self-branded modules to six different PV projects within two years, while securing non-recourse financing from six different commercial banks. Additionally, project information must be complete and accurate, encompassing key details.

These updates aim to enhance the transparency and reliability of the PV market, ensuring that selected manufacturers possess top-tier capabilities and credibility. This move will encourage PV module manufacturers to continuously upgrade their capabilities to meet the heightened requirements, while also providing clearer decision-making guidelines for investors and financial institutions.

Amidst the growing global demand for renewable energy, the PV industry is embracing new development opportunities. BNEF's updates will set a new benchmark for the industry, guiding the PV sector towards even greater heights.
